Thank you for sending information about Jikji and Cheongju to the Cambridge Museum of Technology (UK).
As I am the leader of the printing team in this museum, I was very interested in your information.
Of course we know that printing was invented in China, and that Korea was the first country in which metal type was used.
It does however seem very unlikely that Gutenberg knew of this invention, and we regard him as an independent inventor
- unlike the technique of woodcut, which does indeed seem to have moved to the Middle East and then into Europe in the early 15th century (C.E.).

I would be very interested to know if there is any information about the process by which metal type was made in Korea
- for instance, was the original pattern made in wood or metal? Was a special mould used (like the western typecaster’s hand-mould)?
Also, was any kind of printing press used in Korea? How was the ink made? (Until recently it was difficult to make a water-based ink that would adhere to a metal surface.)
If you have any information on these points we would be very interested to know. And if there is any English-language book about the Jikji we would very much like to have a copy.

향후 한국뿐만 아니라 대만에서도 서로에 대한 잘못된 정보가 있을 경우
즉각적으로 시정할 수 있도록 주한 대만대표부는 반크와 긴밀한 관계를 유지하도록 노력하겠습니다. 

대만에서도 이번 한국사 관련 문제가 현지 언론을 통해 대대적으로 보도되었고,
대만 정부에서 한국과의 외교마찰을 우려하여 해당 오류 페이지를 삭제했습니다 
대만 정부는 한국사를 왜곡하려는 의도는 없었으며, 해당 웹사이트는 외주에 의해 제작되었고 컨텐츠 제작과정에서 정확한 내용전달에 실수가 있었습니다. 
대만에서는 한국에 대한 자료가 부족하기 때문에 그런 과정에서 발생한 일이라고 봅니다. 

향후 한국뿐만 아니라 대만에서도 서로에 대한 잘못된 정보가 있을 경우 즉각적으로 시정할 수 있도록 주한 대만대표부는 반크와 긴밀한 관계를 유지하도록 노력하겠습니다.

한국역사의 시작은 기원전 12세기에 중국학자인 기자에 의해 시작이 되었다”라는 부분은 “단군이 기원전 2333년에 고조선을 설립했다”라고 시정이 되었습니다.

알려드립니다.

The Voluntary Agency Network of Korea (VANK) began an aggressive letter and email writing campaign in the late 1990s,
all in an effort to get the world, especially map makers, travel guides and geography web sites to include the East Sea,
whenever the long-established Sea of Japan is found in print.

 Their claim that the East Sea has as much historical precedent as the Sea of Japan has worked well, as major book and map publishers,
educational web sites, along with this site and other reference materials now include the East Sea.

사이버외교사절단 반크는 세계지도에 오랫동안 사용되어 온 일본해라는 이름을 발견할 때마다 동해 사용에 대한 전 세계인의 지지를 얻기 위해서 특히 지도 제작자들과 여행사
그리고 지도 웹사이트 관계자에게 동해를 포함에 달라고 1990년대 후반 적극적인 편지 및 이메일 캠페인을 시작했다.
동해가 일본해 못지 않게 많은 역사적인 전례가 있다는 반크의 주장은 효력을 발휘하여 본 사이트 (World Atlas) 와 함께 주요 출판사,

“This change will be made on an “as revised” basis. This means that the next time we print the chart for other aeronautical changes,
we will also change to “East Sea”.“

젭슨사는 우리가 제공하는 항공사 차트에 “동해” 가 읽혀지도록 개정하기로 계획 중 입니다.
이 같은 변화(동해 표기)는 개정판을 기준으로 이루어질 것입니다.
