Thank you for sending information about Jikji and Cheongju to the Cambridge Museum of Technology (UK).
As I am the leader of the printing team in this museum, I was very interested in your information.
Of course we know that printing was invented in China, and that Korea was the first country in which metal type was used.
It does however seem very unlikely that Gutenberg knew of this invention, and we regard him as an independent inventor
- unlike the technique of woodcut, which does indeed seem to have moved to the Middle East and then into Europe in the early 15th century (C.E.).

I would be very interested to know if there is any information about the process by which metal type was made in Korea
- for instance, was the original pattern made in wood or metal? Was a special mould used (like the western typecaster’s hand-mould)?
Also, was any kind of printing press used in Korea? How was the ink made? (Until recently it was difficult to make a water-based ink that would adhere to a metal surface.)
If you have any information on these points we would be very interested to know. And if there is any English-language book about the Jikji we would very much like to have a copy.

물론 우리는 중국에서 인쇄술이 발명된 것을 알고 있고 한국이 금속활자인쇄술을 만든 첫번째 국가라는 것도 알고 있습니다.
어떻게 된지 모르지만 구텐베르크가 그 발명을 알게 되었고 우리는 그가 독립적인 발명가이고 그의 발명이 중동과 유럽 지역에 15세기에 변화를 이끌어냈고 봅니다. 
저는 한국에서 금속활자인쇄술이 어떻게 만들어졌는지 매우 궁금하네요. 예를 들어서 글자의 패턴을 나무로 만들었는지 금속으로 만들었는지 말입니다.
유럽인들이 썼던 것과 유사한 특별한 몰드 같은 것이 있었나요? 한국에서는 어떤 인쇄방식을 썼나요? 잉크는 어떻게 만들었습니까? 
만약 이에 대한 정보가 있다면 알려주시면 감사하겠습니다. 그리고 직지에 대한 영문 도서가 있다면 하나 소장하고 싶네요.
